Tree Surgeon Apprenticeship

Bawden Tree Care are on the hunt for the next generation of tree surgeons and arborists to join the tree care team here in Amesbury, Wiltshire. We'd love to meet enthusiastic and motivated individuals who want to start an apprenticeship in this fantastic and rewarding industry, learning and working with a great team and are comfortable being outside in adverse weather conditions.

Level 2 Apprenticeships in Trees and Timber at Bawden Tree Care

The training provided by Sparsholt College to the Bawden Tree Care apprentices will be through the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Trees and Timber; this training offers a wide spectrum of skills and learning, making it the ideal starting point for those embarking on a new career in arboriculture.  Bawden Tree Care will supplement this structured training with more work based experiences, as well as the chance to take part in external events, visits and lectures.  More specific details of the course are here.

On completion of the course you will be qualified and have some work experience under your belt, ready to develop and get started on building your career within the arboricultural industry.  Sparsholt will set you up with a bunch of transferable skills, we do of course want you stay at Bawden Tree Care and continue to develop and continue training - maybe Level 3 and beyond.  But long term the green space industry contains a diverse choice of career prospects, with the right motivation and encourage means that you can really develop and take those transferable skills with you.

The Apprenticeship Scheme is is designed to help you make a really positive start in your working life, whether that be tree surgery, arboriculture or some other aspect of the industry.  Training and learning with like minded people, not only gaining a valuable qualification, but developing confidence and building experience within the work place, as well as making new friends and having some fun.

Where do I start?

Embarking on an apprenticeship, whatever the industry, is a two part process - the College concerned needs to be involved and so does an Employer.  We therefore suggest you start with one or the other of these - bit of a chicken or egg situation - but you need to approach one or the other first - it doesn't really matter which - start with us at Bawden Tree Care if you like - great choice for an informal chat about options etc.  Also do remember that apprenticeships are structured around educational term times, with yearly intakes usually starting in early September, so make sure you get your application started in good time.

You can also find out a lot more background information about jobs, careers and apprenticeships in tree surgery, landscaping and other green space industries at the British Association of Landscape Industries - GoLandscape web site - here.  We know it says 'Landscape' in the title and you want to be a tree surgeon, but really visit the site you will discover a wealth of information and advice to help you.  Also we recommend that you take a visit to the Arboricultural Association, website - there is even more information on the industry generally, courses, training and really great details on careers, it is all - here
